Screening Survey for all Women - Maternity

During the first half of your pregnancy you were offered some screening blood tests to screen for infectious diseases (HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis), sickle cell and thalassemia. And also a first trimester scan to screen for Down, Edwards and pataus syndromes and an anomaly scan which screens for a number of physical conditions. We would like to ask you some questions about the information you received regarding these tests and your experience of having them. We would be very grateful if you would complete the survey below; it should take less than 5 minutes. Your feedback is important to us as it will help us to provide a quality service which meets the needs of expectant parents. As this survey is completely confidential we are unable to respond to concerns raised, therefore if you wish to discuss any aspect of your screening, please email screeningspecialistmidwives@porthosp.nhs.uk or telephone 02692 286000 ext: 3740. Thank you

1. Do you recall being advised to read the online information about screening tests for you and your baby? This may have been a link when you first registered your pregnancy online, or information from a midwife at your first appointment.

2. Did you read the online information 'Screening Test for you and your baby'?

3. At your booking appointment, did the midwife explain the screening tests you were being offered?

The next questions are about the blood tests you had early in pregnancy, usually at your initial booking appointment:

4. Were you able to see the results of your blood tests on BadgerNet and did you understand what they meant?

5. Were you happy with the timescale in which you were able to view your blood test results on BadgerNet?

6. At your 16-18 week community midwife appointment, did the midwife explain the results of your blood tests?

Now we would like you to think about the first screening scan you had, at which we also offer screening for Down, Edwards' and Patau syndrome:

7. At your scan, did the sonographer explain the purpose of the Ultrasound scan?

8. Did the sonographer explain the results/findings of the Ultrasound scan?

9. On a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the highest, how satisfied were you with your experience of the scan?

10. Please add any further comments you may have
